Our staff are fully trained to CQC requirements; training is updated and ongoing yearly. We are a friendly and professional team, who aim to achieve a balance between a stimulating lifestyle for residents with responsible caring for their health and safety, emotional, physical and mental well being. Confidentiality is respected and maintained by all staff at all times. Care staffs are on duty 24 hours a day. Family and Friends (and pets) are welcome to visit at any time.

Management are on duty daily and on call during out of working hours for emergencies.

St Heliers Residential Hotel is an elegant residential caring environment, with the aspects of a hotel standard. Our beautiful Victorian building located close to the Leas overlooks the sea and the private communal garden. St Heliers offers large unique furnished or unfurnished ensuite rooms for long-term Retirement, Holiday and Respite Care.

We offer a hotel life style which has a friendly, relaxed atmosphere, whilst maintaining a comprehensive professional approach to all care. There are two lounges, one over looking Clifton gardens, and the other with a bar adjacent to the dining room, with access to the patio area for residents use in fine weather. Residents can enjoy direct access into the large private garden, which is to the rear of the property, with its beautiful trees and shrubs. The garden leads onto the Leas and then to the bandstand.

Residents Bedrooms

There are 30 unique Bedrooms with ensuite facilities most have Sea Views, 18 of overlook Clifton Gardens and 3 rooms also have kitchenettes. All rooms are generously sized and many are large enough for a 3-piece suite, dining table and chairs bed and bedroom furniture. Resident’s personal furniture and ornaments gives each of the 30 rooms its own charm and personality.

Residents are encouraged to bring as much of their own furniture and as many belongings as they can fit into their room to make it homely and personal. All rooms have a call system, TV and telephone point. There is a lift to all floors. Each floor is at one level throughout. All rooms are ensuite with WC and hand basin, some have showers or baths.

In addition to private facilities in the rooms, we have two Luxury Walk-In Spa Baths, a Bath-with-Hoist available for assisted bathing and a walk in shower room.

Holiday and Respite Care residents are accommodated in furnished rooms.


Dining Room

Residents have the choice to have their meals served in the Dining Room, at individual tables or larger shared table, or if preferred some or all of the meals can be served in their own room.

We employ two chefs who prepare meals from fresh ingredients which is locally source from family run greengrocers, butchers and fishmongers. There is an extensive and varied menu, mainly traditional English home-cooking and also some popular Continental and Asian dishes.

Breakfast is served at either 7.45am or if they prefer a cooked breakfast this will be served at 8.30am, Breakfast can be served in their rooms or in the dining room.

Our main meal of the day is served at mid-day which consists of three courses: homemade soup to start: Choice of two cooked dishes: Followed by a homemade dessert. The evening meal is again three courses: homemade soup: a lighter main meal and dessert. There is a four week rotation of menus designed by our chefs which are changed with the seasons. All dietary requirements are catered for and fresh fruit is always available. All meals are served by our servery girls.

Morning coffee and homemade biscuits are served at 10.30am and afternoon tea with homemade cake is served from 2.30pm.

Friends and family are welcome to join residents for meals, for a small charge with 24 hour notice being required for this. A table can be set up in the ground floor lounge for private dining.

Special birthdays are celebrated with our chef making birthday cakes and catering for parties.

Families are welcome to join their relatives on Christmas day for lunch a months’ notice is required for this special day.

Sun Lounge & Bar

St Heliers Residential Hotel Sun Lounge and Bar

The Sun Lounge offers a comfortable informal seating area, with bistro tables and chairs. Provides a light airy environment for reading, chatting to friends or entertaining guests. The patio area which is accessible through the sun lounge is used in the summer for outside dining and BBQ. The Licensed Bar serves a wide range of alcoholic and fruit drinks.

Games, Entertainment, exercises and 1-1 pampering sessions are a regular feature of everyday life and often take place in this area of the hotel

The sun lounge is used on a daily basis and is popular with residents and their families. Social activities are arranged for the enjoyment and quality of life for those in our care with the intention of reflecting the resident’s interests, wishes and capabilities. Residents are notified of forthcoming activities by displaying notices in communal areas. Family and friends are also invited to attend these activities. Whilst we encourage participation in activities, we also recognise a resident’s choice not to partake if they do not wish to.

The sun lounge or the ground floor lounge can be hired for private family celebrations. Fees for private function can be discussed with management.


Tea In The Garden

From the rear of the Hotel is direct access to large private Gardens with beautiful mature trees & shrubs

The gardens are used during the summer by residents and their guests who can sit in the shade of the many trees and take afternoon tea while enjoying live weekend entertainment from the Bandstand

Gates lead from the gardens to the Leas Cliffs and Bandstand the main road to local shops and town centre. There is an attractive cafe at the nearby Leas Cliff Hall


Leas Cliff & Sea

Residents and visitors now sit on the many benches provided along the Leas or take short strolls to enjoy the views in sunny weather. The level walk follows the edge of a tree and shrub covered chalk cliff with glorious views of the sea and French coast

The Bandstand which has regular summer entertainment is just outside the rear gardens to the Hotel. The Leas Cliff Hall with its cafe and wide variety of concerts and entertainment is a short walk from the Hotel.
